Many homeowners are left scratching their heads when it comes to holiday decorating. Instead of struggling through another holiday, let the Homearama experts inspire you with The Thanksgiving House and The Elderberry, two holiday-themed homes on display at Homearama at Culpepper Landing.

The Thanksgiving House
It’s been more than 200 years since the pilgrims celebrated the first Thanksgiving with the Native Americans, and Linda Federoff of Distinctive Designs is paying homage by keeping The Thanksgiving House simple, “as styles were much simpler when the pilgrims came over,” she said.

Decorated with “fall decorations and harvest colors throughout the house,” visitors will be enveloped with calming colors, such as light greens, goldish tans and light terra cottas. “It’s an arts and crafts house with a simple design,” she said. So all furniture is handcrafted by the Amish in a mission style,” like it would have been then.

A Christmas Tradition
The Elderberry House will feature several themed holiday trees, said Cathy Tellefsen of Complete Interiors, who teamed up with Glenda Fowler of Lasting Impressions Florist and Gifts. Visitors should look for “a fruit-themed tree in the kitchen and a train-themed tree in the boys’ room,” as well as an outdoor tree.

For those who thrive on out-of-the-box ideas, the lime-green fruit-themed tree should be right up their alley. And make sure you look up, as Tellefsen said the “tree tops will not be what you would expect.”
