Although there is something to see every day at Homearama, there are also special activities throughout the event:

Friday, Oct. 14:

  • Charity Preview Party, Friday, Oct. 14. Awards ceremony at 6 p.m. followed by a reception and the opening of the homes. Proceeds benefit TBA’s Scholarship Foundation.

Saturday, Oct. 15:

  • Dive into Homearama with a demonstration from Suffolk Sky Dive at 1:30 p.m.
  • Sinclair Stations presents “Autumn Ale,” a sampling of craft beers from noon-3 p.m. at House 1.
  • Live music from jazz pianist and past scholarship recipient Justin Kauflin from 5-7 p.m. in House 1, The Justin Kauflin House.
  • Parental Awareness seminar by Guerilla Social Media, 1-1:30 p.m. and 3-3:30 p.m. at House 5. Learn what you need to know as parents to help keep your children safe online.
  • Job Searching seminar by Guerilla Social Media, 2-2:30 p.m. Learn what tols are out there and how you can utilize them in your job search.
  • Social for Small Business seminar by Guerilla Social Media, 4-4:30 p.m. How can you small business utilize social media? Find out from the GSM experts.

Sunday, Oct. 15:

  • Parental Awareness seminar by Guerilla Social Media, 1-1:30 p.m. and 3-3:30 p.m. at House 5. Learn what you need to know as parents to help keep your children safe online.
  • Job Searching seminar by Guerilla Social Media, 2-2:30 p.m. Learn what tols are out there and how you can utilize them in your job search.
  • Social for Small Business seminar by Guerilla Social Media, 4-4:30 p.m. How can you small business utilize social media? Find out from the GSM experts.

Monday, Oct. 17:

  • Military Appreciation Day, on Monday, Oct. 17, military guests can take advantage of buy one, get one free admission with a valid military identification card. 

Wednesday, Oct. 19:

  • Realtors Day, set for Wednesday, Oct. 19, invites area realtors to be admitted free all day long with a business card and ID. Complimentary breakfast is from 9:30-11 a.m.
  • Mobile Mammography available from Sentara from noon-9 p.m. Call 1-800-SENTARA to schedule your appointment in advance.
  • Facebook for Business seminar by Guerilla Social Media, 10-10:45 a.m. and 1-1:45 p.m. at House 5. Learn how to utilize Facebook for your business needs.
  • Real Estate Social Networking seminar by Guerilla Social Media, 11-11:45 a.m. and 2-2:45 a.m. at House 5. GSM staffers will demonstrate how real estate agents can use social networking, such as Facebook, Twitter and more!

Thursday, Oct. 20:

  • Get Pink with Sentara Day, Thursday, Oct. 20. Anyone wearing pink gets a $2 discount at the gate. Sentara will offer free cholesterol and blood pressure screenings, chair massages and healthy cooking demonstrations.

Friday, Oct. 21:

  • TBA scholarship recipient Brittany Denig performs on the violin from 2-4 p.m. in House 1, to benefit the TBA Scholarship Foundation.

Saturday, Oct. 22:

  • Suffolk Schools Day, guests will enjoy a variety of events at House 8 courtesy of Suffolk Public Schools, including: 
    • Meet and greet with Superintendent Dr. Deran Whiteney and school principals  from 12 noon – 6 p.m.
    • Enjoy music from the Nansemond River High School marching band from 2-3 p.m.
    • Enjoy culinary fare samples from Nansemond River High School catering students from 3-6 p.m.
    • Live music from the Nansemond River High School chorus from 5-6 p.m.
  • Live music from jazz pianist Justin Kauflin from 5-7 p.m. in House 1.
  • Meet WAVY-TV anchors in House 9.
  • Join WAFX radio outside the Get Pink with Sentara House from 1-3 p.m.
  • Parental Awareness seminar by Guerilla Social Media, 1-1:30 p.m. and 3-3:30 p.m. at House 5. Learn what you need to know as parents to help keep your children safe online.

Monday, Oct. 24:

  • A Taste of Suffolk, from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, sponsored by Hampton Roads Magazine, invites guests to sample cuisine from these Suffolk restaurants: The Broken Egg Bistro with bread pudding with Bailey’s cream sauce; River Stone Chophouse with Korean barbecue short rib “sliders”; Primo 116 Bistro Italiano with ricotta gnocchi with a crumbled sausage sauce; Smithfield Station with roast pork sliders; and O’Doodle Doos Donuts with specialty donuts. Guests will vote for their favorite and local restaurant critics will also select their favorites.

Tuesday, Oct. 25:

  • The Virginian-Pilot Food Editor Lorraine Eaton meets readers in House 6 from 3-5 p.m.
  • Mother’s Day Out, gates open early at 10 a.m. for moms with school-age children.

Friday, Oct. 28

  • Meet The Virginian-Pilot's Automotive Editor Larry Printz from 3-5 p.m. at The Pilot Reader House

Saturday, Oct. 29:

  • Enjoy a live performance by jazz pianist Justin Kauflin in House 1
    from 5-7 p.m.
  • Harrison’s Halloween Costume Contest invites children of all ages to stop by for a chance to win the costume contest. Stop by the Harrison’s Moving Exhibit trailer between 1-4 p.m. to enter to win. Winners will be selected from four age groups (ages five and under, age 6-10, age 11-15, and age 16-adult). Winners will be awarded at 5 p.m. Anyone at the trailer at 5 p.m. is eligible to win the best overall costume prize. Only one prize per contestant.
