Homearama guests will get A Taste of Virginia Beach

Satisfy your senses at Tidewater Builders Association’s Taste of Virginia Beach at Spring Homearama in the Eagle’s Nest community in southern Virginia Beach.

On Monday, June 6, from 6 to 8 p.m., visitors will be able to enjoy the showcase homes on display while also sampling the cuisine from some of Virginia Beach’s finest restaurants.

Hampton Roads Magazine and Virginia Natural Gas will sponsor the “Taste of Virginia Beach,” when five nearby eateries will be offering up samples for Homearama guests. Participating chefs are from:

  • Anchor Inn: Scallops wrapped in bacon and crab bites.
  • La Bella Italia: blood orange sangria, risotto balls stuffed with roasted garlic, goat cheese & red peppers, and napoleon-layered whipped cream with Pungo strawberries.
  • Seacrest Restaurant: Beef brisket, hush puppies and she-crab soup
  • Swell: Fried wonton topped with layers of tuna tartare, seaweed salad and bruleed crab and garnished with sweet chili sauce and pomegranate reduction.
  • Fresh Tapas and Tonics: spicy beef Thai and pork dumplings

Visitors will vote for their favorite fare to determine who will win the coveted People’s Choice Award. A contingent of local food writers, led by Hampton Roads Magazine’s Food Editor Patrick Evans-Hylton, will determine who wins the Critics’ Choice Award.

Guests will sample the fare while visiting the nine fully decorated and landscaped showcase homes
In addition to the showcase homes, an Idea Marketplace offers hundreds of products for the home and garden. Homearama is open to the public through June 12 from noon until 9 p.m. Ticket sales will stop one hour before closing.

General admission is $10 for a one-day pass and $17 for a two-day pass. Active duty and retired military guests and seniors (62 or better) get a $2 discount Monday-Thursday. A $3 discount coupon is available courtesy of HomeTalk.com by visiting www.homearama.tv. Only one discount applies. Children 12 and under and guests in wheelchairs are free.
